Hello,
I appreciate you taking the time to view my work and I am very grateful to those who have supported me and bought my work over the years. Truely grateful for all who support the arts. Here is a brief statement about me as an artist (this is an ongoing artist statement). I have had a strong interest in art since I was young and have been a student of art and making things for most of my life. I studied fine art, sculpture and crafts with a concentration in glass at the University of Hawaii and College for Creative Studies in Detroit where I achieved my bachelors of fine art in 2003. Now, as an independent artist, I apply what I learned from the creative jobs throughout my career that have taught me countless things. One of my favorites is the challenge of making something to the best of my abilities and then doing it again and doing it better. I love this challenge and feel it fits with anything scenario in life. Do everything the best you can and enjoy the process.
My work is a balance of function and using the materials available at hand to create something interesting.
I like making things by hand, I strive for simplicity and connecting to the “old world” way of hand making my work.
My latest bodies of work are the copper baskets and the driftwood sculptures. I built my camper van and set out to roam this beautiful land we live on and live a simple nomadic life of minimalism. I have never been happier. I make this work out of my mini workshop in my mini van. I only use hand tools, hammers, files, chisels and my hands. It is as simple as it gets and reflects how I want my life to be. Thank you and have a wonderful day!
